The Velvet Touch
Marty Hall
Born sometime in the previous century, Marty began playing at age 7. After graduating school, he went full time into performing with circuit bands across Canada, U.S. and Europe, singing and playing drums, guitar and bass.
During this time he had done shows with George Jones, the Hager Brothers, Johnny Lee, Michelle Wright, the Gatlin Brothers and Ronnie Hawkins.

Living in the Fredericton area since 1986, he spent a year with Gerry McCarty’s band Goin’ On. Shortly after, he formed the Hungry Hearts band. He spent a couple of years as a solo performer before teaming up with Jon Fidler and the Suspects, where he has been for the past fifteen years.
Before moving to Fredericton, Marty also was a studio singer, arranging and singing background vocals for recording artists.
For the past six years, Marty has also been the music director at Hope Community Church, leading the praise and worship with his wife Cynthia.
Cynthia Hall
Cynthia started singing in church as a teenager. When she married husband Marty, they started singing together around home and at family gatherings. She entered a local singing competition and placed second, earning a spot on the NB Country Showcase. She and Marty also have been leading the worship music for their church over the last six years.
Barb Prosser-Winder
Barb began singing at the tender age of 2 (so her parents tell her), standing beside her Grandma’s old-fashioned pump organ.
Fast forward to 2009, and Barb has recorded 3 CD’s, featuring many of her original compositions, as well as some of her favourite hymns of the church.
She first appeared on the New Brunswick Country Showcase in March of 1994 and hasn’t looked back in her musical career. “I’m a late bloomer” says Barb, “but as long as I can I want to sing and make music”.
Barb is currently working on her 4th recording and plans to go back into the studio by the end of October this year (2009).
She credits her husband Arend for giving her the encouragement and support she needs to continue writing music. “He’s my biggest fan—I’m very blessed.” |
